Attorney Michael S. Hopkins is a graduate of The John Marshall Law School in Chicago, receiving his juris doctor degree cum laude. At John Marshall he served on the Law Review staff, was named to the Order of John Marshall, and was ranked the number one graduate in the evening division. He served as a clerk for a Chicago law firm, while pursuing his law degree.

He also earned Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees in English from Governors State University, where he was named to the Dean's List. Hopkins received the Daniel Bernd Award as a distinguished undergraduate, graduated with High Honors and was the commencement speaker.

A former speechwriter and public relations/marketing coordinator at GSU, Hopkins also has been an adjunct professor at several higher education institutions. He served as an avionics technician with the United States Air Force in the 1980s. At Spesia & Ayers, Hopkins concentrates his practice in the areas of municipal law, commercial litigation and personal injury.
