John Matthew Spesia is a life long resident of Will County. He graduated from Joliet Catholic High School in 1985 and received his B.A. in Economics from the University of Iowa in 1989. While attending the University of Denver Law School, Mr. Spesia was a writer for the Law Review. Mr. Spesia's academic excellence was recognized upon graduation from the University of Denver Law School when he was inducted into the "Order of St. Ives." After graduating from law school, Mr. Spesia was selected to serve as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Harry D. Leinenweber, a District Judge in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. On January 1, 2000, Mr. Spesia became a partner, with Spesia, Ayers & Ardaugh, and is presently working in the litigation division of the firm. In addition to being licensed to practice in all Illinois state courts, he is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. He is actively involved in a wide range of civil matters that include injury cases, complex commercial litigation, eminent domain proceedings, tax litigation, and the preparation of contract documents. Mr. Spesia has also argued cases in the Illinois Appellate Courts and in May of 2000 argued before the Illinois Supreme Court. Mr. Spesia continues to reside in Joliet, and is actively involved in community affairs. He is the Vice Chairman of the Corporate Board of Directors of Catholic Charities and a member of the Boy's and Girl's Club of Joliet Board of Directors. In 2005, Mr. Spesia was recognized as "one of 40 Illinois attorneys under 40 to watch."
